The Gunners have been credited with an interest in the City midfielder this summer as they search for a replacement for Martin Odegaard, who has rejoined parent club Real Madrid after a loan spell at the Emirates Stadium.
Despite the interest, City are expected to demand a big price should Arsenal come calling this summer, with the player having signed a new four-year contract last year.
However, according to the Daily Mail , Arsenal will attempt to reduce the price by including ‘fringe players’ in any potential deal.
Names mentioned in the report include Reiss Nelson and previous City target Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who spent the second half of last season on loan with West Bromwich Albion.
City are on the lookout for a wide man this summer, with both players able to play that role.
It is claimed that Arsenal are looking at a deal worth around £50m, with one of the players included to ‘sweeten the deal.’
Maddison signed a new four-year contract last summer, with it said that City rejected a £70m offer for the player from another Premier League club.
That puts Brendan Rodgers’ men in a strong position in any potential negotiations.
Maddison is currently in pre-season training with City as he gears up for the new season. He has been putting in the work during the off-season after struggling for full match sharpness at the end of last season.
The midfielder is gearing up for the first pre-season friendly of the campaign against Burton Albion on Saturday.
