Saul Wants To Leave Atletico Madrid

According to reports from ‘Marca’, Atletico already know that Saul Ñiguez wants to leave the Spanish capital after a disappointing season individually, with Juventus one of the clubs that look most likely to secure his signature.

Atletico Madrid have just won the La Liga title ahead of rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona, however Saul is already thinking about a change of scenery away from his boyhood club.

The reality is that Saul’s performances this season have been disappointing on a personal level. The Atleti midfielder hasn’t appeared during important moments in the season and, despite starting most matches, he’s usually been one of the players to be substituted in the second half, while also having to watch a few games from the stands.

‘Marca’ reports that the midfielder has already made his decision to leave the Metropolitano, something which has been caused in part due to his absence in Luis Enrique’s Spain squad for the European Championships this summer.

Saul is looking for a new project where he feels more in favour and where has a more important role in attack. In this regard, the play certainly won’t be short of options, whose current release clause stands at 150 million euros.

Atletico’s Sport Executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin already made clear that he would allow the player to leave the club if an offer arrived that satisfied both parties. Figures were lowered already last summer and his departure could come at a price of around 70 million euros this time around.

Bayern Munich and Manchester United are a just a few of the options that Saul has in terms of potential destinations, however Juventus are now gaining ground in the race for the midfielder, who are currently carrying out a notable clear-out of their current squad.

In fact, this renovation has started from the bench in Turin, as Pirlo will be let go as manager in the next few hours in order to make away for Massimiliano Allegri, who will re-take charge of Juve with the goal of winning the Champions League and dominating Serie A once again.
